Staff at HMP Liverpool Arrested

TITAN the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit have arrested a member of staff at HMP Liverpool last night (Thursday, 20 July 2017).

The 25-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office and Intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence, contrary to section 44 of the Serious Crime Act 2007.

She has been taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning and has been released under investigation.

Detective Sergeant John Davies, from TITAN’s Prison Investigation Unit, said: "This arrest is part of an on-going investigation conducted by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit TITAN Prison Corruption Unit to tackle the threat posed by corruption within prisons in the North West of England.

"We would like to make it clear to the small but determined number of prison staff who are involved in corruption that we will look at every opportunity available to us and the Prison Service to disrupt and arrest those involved."
