Shiraz and Salina Sharif, aged 45 and 46 years respectively, had their Levenshulme house raided in June 2014 with MDMA and cannabis stashed in their loft.
They were later taken to trial at Manchester Crown Court in November 2015, where Salina arrived alone to be convicted of money laundering. Sharif failed to arrive at court for trial and was found guilty in his absence. Salina was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment and Shiraz was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months.
On 28th July 2017 during a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing, it was decided that Salina and Shiraz’ criminal benefit over a 6 year period was £473,257. Over the last month Titan North West Regional Organised Crime Team’s Asset Confiscation and Enforcement (ACE) team have seized two luxury vehicles with a current value estimate at £36,000 which will be deducted from the criminal benefit. Once they are released from prison, this criminal benefit will remain for life, or until it is fully paid, and Titan’s ACE team will continue to identify and seize any assets they later obtain until payment is returned in full.
The luxury vehicles were a Range Rover Vogue V8 TDi, purchased by the couple from new at £51,000 and an Audi A4 3.0 Petrol Quattro worth approximately £30,000 from new.
