North West Regional Organised Crime Unit

Operation Delmas

Operation Delmas was an investigation targeting a Wigan based organised crime group responsible for the distribution and supply of heroin and cocaine throughout the North West.

The investigation identified a principle supply route for cocaine from a London based group, as well as a further Cheshire based group involved in the supply and distribution of heroin to the offenders investigated as part of Operation Delmas.

Following the investigation, ten defendants faced prosecution with five of those pleading guilty. The other five had a trial lasting eight weeks at Liverpool Crown Court and were subsequently convicted.

On conclusion of the trial the Judge HHJ Phipps commended the police investigation team stating the investigation was one that required assiduous detail and was undertaken in the most professional of manners.
